Season’s Greetings from the

Grown-Up Christmas List
Words & Music by David Foster, Linda Thompson Jenner

Do you remember me? I sat upon your knee I wrote to you with childhood fantasies. Well, I’m all grown up now, and still need help somehow. I’m not a child, but my heart still can dream. So, here’s my lifelong wish, my grown-up Christmas list, Not for myself but for a world in need.

No more lives torn apart, that wars would never start and time would heal all hearts. And everyone would have a friend and right would always win, and love would never end This is my grown-up Christmas list. . . .

What is this illusion called, the innocence of youth? Maybe only in our blind belief will we ever find the truth.

No more lives torn apart, that wars would never start and time would heal all hearts. And everyone would have a friend, and right would always win, and love would never end. Oh, this is my grown-up Christmas list. This is my only lifelong wish. This is my grown-up Christmas list.

God is good all the time. All the time God is good.

THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR

I received a special birthday gift this year. It is an old Christmas album entitled: “Now Is the Caroling Season” by Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians.

My sister, Paula Compton, searched and searched for this album for a few years and finally, she found it on CD. I am not sure just how old this album is, but I can tell you that it has to be at least as old as I am. (Approximately half a century or more) The front cover is a picture of four youngsters all wrapped up singing with a bit of snow on their shoulders and stocking caps. Just seeing this picture took me back to my childhood.

This album has some of the classic Christmas songs on it including, (my favorite) “SLEIGH RIDE” with the sounds of horses galloping, neighing, and whips cracking, etc. Paula and I would gallop around the living room along with the song! (By the way, I’m still galloping!!)

We spent hours staring at our huge, multi-colored light Christmas Tree and listening to this classic album over and over! The original album (that Paula still has) is really scratched after all these years. When Paula recorded it on cassette tape a few years back, it cracked and popped so much it sounded like logs on a fire in the background.

I always tell Paula that the popping is for special effect and dramatic emphasis. (I am certain that I am responsible for most of those scratches) (My family would agree)

I am thrilled that I have a CD of this classic album!

Paula (also) sent copies to our sisters, Linda McLellan, Sandra Archer and our brother Carey Jones. I am sure that the memories will pour over us all this Christmas season.

All five of Bill and Elizabeth Jones’ children will be in separate locations on Christmas Day (as we have been for awhile now), but our hearts are forever joined when we remember Christmas with Daddy and Mamma and we hear:

“NOW IS THE CAROLING SEASON”.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!
Justin

The angel said, “Don’t be afraid. I’m here to announce a great and joyful event that is meant for everybody worldwide. A Savior has just been born in David’s town, a Savior who is Messiah and Master. This is what you’re to look for: a baby wrapped in a blanket and lying in a manger.”

At once the angel was joined by a huge angelic choir singing God’s praises: Glory to God in the heavenly heights, Peace to all men and women on earth who please him.

FALL REVIVALS

We had a blessed Fall Revival season, preaching in Mocksville, Burlington, Clemmons and Clinton, NC.
There were many rededications, as well as professions of faith. This fall (especially) we experienced the moving of the Holy Spirit in congregations where God’s people had been praying and preparing for revival services. God still moves when His people plan, prepare and (mostly) PRAY!!!

If you look for Me at Christmas

If you look for Me at Christmas,
you won’t need a special star --
I’m no longer just in Bethlehem,
I’m right there where you are.
You may not be aware of Me amid the celebrations --
You’ll have to look beyond the stores
and all the decorations.
But if you take a moment from your
list of things to do
And listen to your heart, you’ll find
I’m waiting there for you.
You’re the one I want to be with,
You’re the reason that I came,
And you’ll find Me in the stillness as I’m whispering your name.

Love,
Jesus

Not Ashamed of the Gospel
Romans 1:16

" I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written:
' The righteous will live by faith.' "
