For the past six months
(November 2001 - May 2002) I have had the privilege
of being Supply Pastor at RED BANK BAPTIST CHURCH
in Germanton, NC . It has truly been a blessing to
minister to this dear church family!
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL finished
up this past Friday night at Red Bank. There was
ONE profession of faith! AMEN!! Lisa had the
opportunity to work with the youth. She was blessed
to have been able to work with these teenagers.
Now, our time at Red Bank is
"officially" over. We leave them in good hands as
John Calhoun, a retired missionary, will be their
Interim Pastor until they call a full-time Pastor.
(We hope will be in the near future!)
It is never easy making the
transition from one ministry to another, especially
as an evangelist, where that transition takes place
on a regular basis.
However, this is MY CALLING, and
I would not have it any other way! We will miss our
friends at Red Bank, but we will have the
opportunity to visit with them often!
We love you, Red Bank Church
Family !!!
SUMMER
MISSION OPPORTUNITY
This summer (between late July
and early August) I plan to travel to Waco, Texas
to experience the ministry of MISSION
WACO.
Mission Waco is a non-profit
Christian organization that focuses on ministering
to the poor and homeless. This group travels to
Haiti, India and Mexico City every year to do
missions.(I have been to Mexico City with them
twice.) Also, Mission Waco has an OUTDOOR CHURCH
for the homeless, summer camps for inner-city kids,
poverty simulations in which church groups can
experience what it is like to be poor and homeless,
a thrift store with clothing for those in need and
much more! From what I have seen and heard, Mission
Waco is Christian, "hands-on" social ministry at
it's best!!!
Please PRAY for me and my
brother, Carey Jones, as we travel to Texas to
visit with Carey's college roommate from Baylor
University, Jimmy Dorrell ,Director of Mission
Waco, and , hopefully, visit with relatives in east
Texas! (My mom's family lives in Longview and
Sherman, Texas)..
Correction from last
Newsletter
It is estimated that there are 200 Millionlost
people in the U.S. If we as Baptists win an average
of 400,000 people a year to Jesus Christ (without
any more births) it would take 500 (not 50) Years
to win our nation to Jesus Christ!
My hope and prayer is that we as
Christians will take THE GREAT COMMISSION
seriously!!

"And
what pity Jesus felt for the crowds that came,
because their problems were so great and they did
not know what to do or where to go for help. They
were like sheep without a shepherd."
